days out

And then there were cocktails

Cocktail time

It is not often us grown up children are allowed out in public unsupervised, but last Friday we saw our opportunity and made a run for it! Well a bus for it anyway.

As a Rugby (The town not the sport) girl I hadn’t ever ventured to the pubs of Coventry so I was looking forward to seeing what it had to offer.

Rob and I had our first date in a quirky bar in Rugby called the Bacco Lounge so walking in to our first destination, The Cosy club, felt like going back. A cherry Bakewell cocktail and a whisky for him and conversation turned to décor thanks to the very vintage theme they have going on inside. The cocktail was delicious but overpriced so we didn’t hang about for round 2. I’d recommend the Cosy club for the beautiful bar they have if nothing else.

Round 2 and 3 and 4 were courtesy of Las Iguanas. We didn’t opt for food this time, although it was hard to resist when it smelt so good.
Here is the Cava topped up Brazilian spring punch

Round 3 & 4 was a Vanilla Mai tai which was lovely and the Spiced Honey sour which was erm…. Not so lovely! Think that might have been the tequila.

Las Iguanas offer 241 on cocktails all day, although you can only have 2 of the same drinks. Hence round 3 became round 3 and 4 because that way we got to mix and match. The drinks menu was very good and I look forward to heading there again soon and working my way through the menu.

Our final stop on our tour of Coventry was The Slug and Lettuce. How I have never been in here before I’ll never know. With its cobbled street, views of the old Cathedral and a stunning building this is perfect.

Round 5 and 6 were possibly the favourites of the night, A pornstar Martini and an espresso Martini each. Rob enjoyed a dance while I sat back and watched.

It was the perfect pub for people watching, from the reluctant hen party go-er to the Rugby team who each had a letter on the back of their shirts but didn’t stay still or in order for long enough to see what they spelt out and the DJ who didn’t take requests as he is good at what he does and does not need help in musical choices (He’s not wrong, He played Mmmbop, the teenager in me was very excited!)

Round 7 and 8 were probably poor choices based purely on the 6 that came before them! But the Cherry st Clement and the pretty looking raving rainbow vibes were fun if nothing else. But by this point the only thing I wanted was food and the bus home.
