The bad blogger

I have been a bit lax over the last month. Since holiday the focus has been elsewhere. Bad blogger and bad National Trust member over here!
We have though spent some time sorting the house out. This is a big project that I would like to have shared this journey but I have been really terrible at taking before pictures. I have tried to take some of where we are at now so we can compare once finished. I am genuinely excited to see our home come together.
We are currently doing most of our living upstairs as the ground floor living areas have been emptied so we can assess and decide on what action to take on the floors. I am aware how boring this must sound but you know warts and all from us.
I have to say the children have taken it in their stride and embraced the chaos. F has not complained about missing the PlayStation once which really is huge for him.
So our jar and our membership passes have been somewhat neglected.
Summer is here, or at least the high temperatures of recent days would lead me to believe that. And it is time to up the ante, or at least try. I can’t be alone in finding the diary filling up over the summer months?

I thought by making a note of what we have left to work through, it might inspire me to make some plans!

Pavement artwork. Using chalk to create outdoor masterpieces that can be washed away
Plant Sunflowers – Am I right in thinking this one may be too late for this year now???
Have a water-fight
Wash the car together – My god my car has never been so dirty. I need to make this happen and quickly!
Have a BBQ – Does it count if someone else hosts it for us?? We have 2 coming up 😉
Make ice lollies – I am not sure my freezer will ever be empty enough to do this
Make ice cream sundaes with all the trimmings –  I am amazed this isn’t a weekly event, I love ice cream!
Have a teatime picnic – This seems like it is breaking all picnicking rules… I love it!
Hold your own mini Olympics with friends
Jump in muddy puddles
Visit the Crick scarecrow festival on the 8thJuly – I love this so I am glad I have reminded myself it is on!
Spend a day visiting parks that you’ve not been to before – I do keep a mental note in my head every time we pass one I’ve not seen before.
Feed the ducks
Explore somewhere new – I guess we have done this many times over this year actually!
Make daisy chains
Watch the stars
Go pumpkin picking in time for Halloween
Go and see the fireworks
Indoor camping
Learn to do something new
Share your favourite book with each other
Hold paper aeroplane races
Have a fun photoshoot
Build a den
Make a memory jar
Visit an outdoor pool
Each spend a £1 in the poundshop and buy something fun you can all use
Have Elf afternoon tea to welcome the elves
Make mince pies together and share with your friends
Drive to see all the pretty Christmas lights
Make Christmas cards while watching Christmas films

Now it is time to get my thinking cap on and get some plans on the go. We already plan to visit a National trust site this weekend.

I also need to not beat myself up for not doing something every weekend. Life is all about the little things as much as those big moments. Not every aspect needs to be planned and spending time with family and friends is so important.

Spread the love
