I can’t say this month has flown by like the rest of this year so far. It has been a long month. I don’t even know why. We have managed to fit an awful lot in again.
A wedding update
This is becoming a monthly feature now. This month we finalised our wedding booking and I had to collect my wedding dress.
Now I know you’ll be thinking that its a little premature, but I bought my dress back in July when my Mum was here to help me choose it. With all that has gone on, I had neglected to arrange collection, in fact I had not given it a second thought until my Maid of Honor reminded me!
I was a little worried about seeing the dress again, what if it wasn’t right? What if knowing that Mum loved it would leave it a little tainted with sadness. But I put it on and remembered instantly why I had loved it in the first place.
Now my dress lives in my Mum’s wardrobe which I think is quite fitting.
I have said this the last few months but I really need to start sorting at least a list of things I need to do. Please if I am still saying this next month, can you give me a kick in the arse!
A day out with friends
A long overdue catch up with my best friend and her 2 nephews at Coombe Abbey was the bank holiday weekend plan. And what a lovely day we had. The 2 older boys were away and had a great time climbing, running, throwing stones in to the water and generally feeling free.
I love days like this, no where to be other than outside enjoying good company and watching children play outside.
New arrival
As Harry and Meghan told the world of their arrival with minimal fanfare. Our family welcomed the newest little boy in to our world, JP, My cousins son. I can’t wait to have baby cuddles with him. I wish Mum could have met him, she adored his big sister.
SATS week
This is the moment F has been talking about since September last year! We had all been dreading it, sleepless nights, tears and tantrums, and that was just me. But you can read more about my thoughts on SATs Here.
It came and we survived and actually he appeared to be quite pleased with how they went. I am just relieved that it is done.
We celebrated with a meal out and it was so lovely, just the two of us. I could watch all that stress and tension leave him while we had a giggle over silly snapchat filters.
The renovations continue
This house is very much a work in progress, but with each small thing we do, I just love the house more and more.
Now we need to prepare for the attic conversion. This involves clearing the attic. MAJOR JOB! Scarily overwhelming in fact. But taking a section at a time, Rob has almost nailed it. I can’t take any credit for it whatsoever.
I did sort out our bedroom which was a pretty big job. Space is needed to be able to unload the attic. So I suppose I can take a little credit, maybe.
We also spent a morning on the jungle that is our garden. We cleared as many bags of rubbish out of the garden as we did out of the bedroom. Says a huge amount about our bedroom hey!
As the attic begins in July, I finally feel like we have got ahead of ourselves a little bit which is great.
Take that
Yes! I bloody love live music, but especially Take That. They always put on such a great show. Me and my bestie have been going to concerts together since we were 12 and have seen so many amazing people.
This time we both took along our partners. I think it was slightly under protest, but I’d say they enjoyed it. Even Rick Astley. Although there was a lack of dancing on their part. It was really lovely to share something I am so passionate about with Rob for the first time though.
The old lady Take that fan in me though has to express some concern for Mark Owen. He did not look like a well man.
The Great outdoors
Friends of ours invited us to join them at their field for a BBQ. The weather wasn’t looking great but we were all excited to catch up. 6 adults and 7 children and endless fun to be had.
Now there is nothing I love more than watching children play outside. The field offered the children the most wonderful play area. Endless fields, horses to get acquainted with, a rope swing, trampoline and a stream. Freedom that they rarely get in such an environment. No cars, no other children to contend with, just pure imagination, freedom and fun.
The adults were only needed for food and water which did mean that we could have some fun of our own. Me and the bestie played badminton, I was terrible. Rob challenged me to a game and I was pretty good, I like to think it is because we are perfectly in sync! There was also the zip wire that Rob decided to climb despite being told it couldn’t even cope with the weight of a child. Well it led to some seriously funny moments.
We had so much fun and reminded me how important it is for children to be given an opportunity to explore on their own. It is definitely a great way to spend the day and I look forward to doing it more in the future.
Girls night out
This is a rare thing these days. A night of girls only, dressing up, make up on and a fresh hair cut. It’s been almost 3 years since I have been out with my Best friend on a night out and even longer since we went out in our home town.
We had such a good time, giggling, drinking cocktails and taking silly pictures. But I am not built for the partying life anymore. One Friday night out and I am out of action for a day. Although falling asleep on the sofa at home while the children played cops and robbers outside was lovely. They were supervised by the way.
RIP Game of Thrones
I knew this day was coming but I was not really prepared for it. I have cried my way through 5 episodes, why did I think the 6th would be any different god knows!
What an emotional moment watching it for the last time was. And I know there has been a huge amount of negativity about it but for me it was the ending I didn’t know I wanted, but you can read my overview A Game of Thrones – The best bits

Anglesey Adult time
Another weekend away. We are feeling so blessed to have another chance to get away this month. Life is so busy that it is lovely to get these moments for just the two of us.
The reason for choosing Anglesey is an opportunity to take a walk down memory lane. I spent time here as a child staying at my Great Grandparents house. It was a beautiful old building with a red roof, big thick walls and small doorways. I have such fond memories of family time here and it was a special place for my parents.
This is why we have decided to scatter a little bit of Mum’s ashes there. I am struggling with the concept of doing this but I also feel honored to take Mum on a final journey to a place she and Dad loved.
Off we go…… see you in June!!!

I hear you on the whole not-built-for-partying issue. When I was 24, I used to close down the bars, and then be up and running with no ill effects the next day for my 6am barista shift….. A couple weeks ago, at age 35, I had a few ciders at a BBQ, over the course of several hours, and felt miserable the entire next day!

What a fab month! My son also had his SATS to do with a broken wrist! I love take that but didn’t go this time as been every year and thought the tickets were so much more expensive this year! Also GOT ending was disappointing to me x
