Now I will start by saying we are not normally big TV watchers but with 6 whole weeks off work and a mixed bag of weather, I’ve found myself with a little more time on my hands than normal. So here is What I am watching this Summer.
All of these are available through Netflix or NowTv.
Some old friends
Nope, not those old friends, but the same city…
I am re-watching ‘Sex and the city’! Four old friends, or that’s how it feels at least. Weirdly, I watched this the first time round with my parents. I have revisited it a few times since and the first film is still one of my favourite films.
I’d forgotten how much I enjoyed the series and it is easy to pick up when I have a spare half an hour.

Serving time
I won’t lie, I was very excited to see the return of ‘Orange is the new Black’ on Netflix and even more so when I saw it began during the first week of the summer break!
To say I am underwhelmed so far would be an understatement. But I am committed. I have watched all the other series and it feels only right to stick with the last series, gain some closure. Fingers crossed it improves a lot or I will be left VERY disappointed!
Disney Starlet
When I saw this show advertised, I of course recognised Zendaya from the Greatest Showman and knew of her Disney background.
So to say I was surprised to see her portraying Rue in ‘Euphoria’. Rue is a 17 year old drug addict. We meet her straight from rehab but she is clear to the viewer that she has no intention of staying clean.
Within five minutes I was hooked. Its dark, has a real movie feel to it and there are so many plot layers building that I can’t wait to get to the bottom of them all. It feels like a teen drama but has an edge that means I would not allow any teen of mine to actually watch it!
I think this has HBO hit written all over it.
Enter George Clarke
I have always been a secret fan of home renovation shows, so when Rob suggested ‘Old house, New home’ I was very much on board.
Now living in an old house, we are currently working hard to make it our new home and this show has given us some definite food for thought.
And George’s need to smash down walls has become a bit of a running joke in our house. In fact we know for sure he’d come in and knock down lots of walls in our old house.
Weird Wonderlust
Since watching Chernobyl it has ignited a love for weird and wonderful places, in steps ‘Dark Tourist’ on Netflix. David Farrier travels the world visiting all those places most of us would like to visit but value our safety and health a bit too much to actually hop on a plane!
He visits Columbia to experience Narco tourism, made famous by Pablo Escobar. Visits Japan to experience nuclear tourism. Also meeting people who are intrigued in following in the footsteps of Murderers and visits the birthplace of Voodoo in Africa.
You can take in all these wonderful sites without leaving the house, sounds perfect to me.
The only down side is the slightly Louis Theroux David Farrier, but if you can get past that its a winner!
Arriving late to the party
‘Black Mirror’. I am not sure how I had missed this until now but Rob convinced me to watch the first episode…. I have to admit to hating every minute of it!
But then Netflix had the new series listed and seeing Andrew Scott and Miley Cyrus in the trailers, I thought I’d give it a go. I am so glad I did! I really enjoyed the episodes and I am now willing to go back and watch the other series. And really looking forward to it!
So there you have it, my viewing choices for the summer. It seems like rather a lot I guess but I don’t often get a chance to binge watch anything, so it makes a nice change. You can always check out what I was watching on Netflix this Winter for more inspiration.

I just finished the first season of Euphoria. I really liked it.
Recommendations – Derry Girls is one of the funnier shows I’ve watched recently. On My Block is very good. Dear White People’s new season is up. Lucifer. I will stop there.

I feel like I have run out of things to watch at the moment. I would like to give Orange is the New Black a try, I am still ploughing through Greys Anatomy, we’ve watched for years but have got behind.

I must admit I’m fascinated by Dark Tourist. It’s such an interesting show. I agree with you about the presenter too ha ha!
Ekk! I haven’t seen any of these. I’m playing catch up on Netflix and just started 13 reasons why. So far so good! Black mirror looks scary!
I loved 13 reasons why but I haven’t seen anything other than the first series. I thought the same about Black Mirror but I am yet to find one that has scared me… And I am a wimp!
Ha! I am currently watching OITNB and I just started S3. I am marathoning it to the end. Of course I love Sex in the City. I thjnj I’ve seen that so many times already but it’s still so fun to watch.
One thing I’d recommend is The Marvelous Mrs Maisel. Try it!

Euphoria is my next thing to start and I loved OITNB. The last series was pretty great.
Awh I love Sex and the City! Haven’t watched that for AGES. I gave up with Orange is the New Black sadly. I got so bored I couldn’t carry on which is a shame because I absolutely loved it. San Junipero is the best Black Mirror episode! x
I sort of wish I had given up on it but I am too close to the end now, I have to stick with it 😉
Black Mirror is a form favourite here. I’ve never heard of Euphoria so that’s one I’m going to be looking out for. My brothers keep telling to to watch ‘Orange is the new Black’ but I still haven’t done it. Next couple of weeks I reckon.
I would recommend you add Wentworth to your list! 🙂 I haven’t dived into Black Mirror yet. I haven’t finished Orange is the New Black yet either.

Gosh I used to love watching Sex in the City! I think that deserves to be rewatched again soon.
So many good shows, I really loved Dark Tourist! Summer is definitely time for some relaxed TV!
I am long overdue a SATC rewatch – this summer I am actually rewatching Friends, for the millionth time but first in about 6 years!

I’ve got Dark Tourist on my list on Netflix so will definitely be giving that a try! I love SITC, Charlotte was always my favourite.
I really want to rewatch the Sex and The City series again. I wonder if it is on Sky or Netflix to download (I’m too lazy to pop in a DVD and change the discs!)

I couldn’t get in to OITNB but actually sat and watched Sex And the City movie the other week while I was poorly. it threw me back a few years! Love Dark Tourist!
I’ve never watched any of these. Well, almost never. I’ve seen I think one episode of Sex and the City (where she gets some shoes stolen while at a party?), and I didn’t make it past episode 2 of Orange is the New Black. Currently watching Season 3 of Designated Survivor.

I never get bored of watching Sex and The City. The first time I watched I was convinced I was a Charlotte. Now I realise I’m definitely a Miranda (without the great career!)
I like to think I am Carrie but I am probably more a Charlotte 😉
I’ve been hearing so much about Euphoria recently and it’s making me so curious! I might have to check it out. I recently finished OITNB too and was absolutely obsessed with the season as a whole. I feel like I need to rewatch the very last episode though because I feel like I missed out on a few key details. xx

Aaaaahhhh….right now, I am watching “Wu Assassins” on Netflix! I love it.
I’m late to the party too when it comes to Black Mirror I just started watching it this summer. It didn’t appeal to me at first, but my sister convinced me to watch a couple of episodes while she was visiting, and now I’m hooked. Outside of Black Mirror, I’ve been watching Glow, and I’m rewatching Downtown Abbey this summer.
It’s good to have found this article. I’ve been watching TV like I never did before, and addicted to Big Bang Theory and Modern Family. But this Weird Wonderful sounds interesting too.
Sex in the City is amazing! I really want to go back and re-watch it now! We just finished off Dark Tourist and Orange is the new black, so we currently in the market for some new shows. Thank goodness for Netflix!
