WHAT SIGNIFIES THE START OF AUTUMN FOR YOU?
I can’t think of a specific date that for me equals Autumn but there are several moments where I get that Autumn feeling.
The first time I spot the tree’s begin to turn or at 7.30pm when you realise that it is beginning to get dark, then there’s all the new TV listings on Netflix which scream cosy season is coming and when you have to put a cardigan on because it is just a little chilly first and last thing.
I really love all these moments.
FAVOURITE AUTUMN SCENT?
This is easy! It has to be bonfire. I smelt it for the first time yesterday in fact. I was driving home from work, still light outside so no doubt it was rubbish being burned but oh that smell. Even while the thermometer was reading 22 degrees it gave me all the Autumn feels.
FAVOURITE AUTUMN COLOUR?
I am not really a fan of the bright yellow’s and red’s and oranges of Autumn at any other time of year. But there is something so amazing in watching the colours change and see the ground filled with these colours close to fire. I absolutely love it.
In terms of clothes, a friend gave me a lovely mustard top and I have a red polo neck that I can’t wait to get out of the wardrobe.
I also bought some lovely suede ankle boots in a tan colour last year in the sale and have been very good to not wear them as they feel like a real Autumn item.
FAVOURITE FALL DRINK?
Salted caramel and gingerbread anything. This year I am going to make myself try pumpkin spice. It is obviously a firm favourite for most people but I can’t say I am a pumpkin fan!
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO SPEND A RAINY DAY?
I love a rainy day so much! If I can find any reason to stay at home I’m all over it.
For me it’s the perfect excuse to stay snuggled up. A good rainy day is spending the morning achieving something, housework, sorting out, washing etc and then an afternoon of family films.
Perfect!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE AUTUMN MOVIE?
I don’t have a favourite Autumn film, it would just be something really family friendly that we could all snuggle up together to watch.
There is of course some brilliant Halloween films. I’d love to show the kids hocus pocus this year. F wants to watch the Adams family and Coraline always makes me think of Halloween.
WHAT IS YOUR MOST-LOVED OUTDOOR AUTUMN ACTIVITY?
Walking through fallen leaves. Oh it makes me so happy. Through the woods, all the trees at various stages of green to red and orange and brown and the leaves underfoot.
One of my favourite places to visit is Batsford Arboretum in the Cotswolds.
WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE AUTUMN FASHION TREND?
Jumpers!! Who doesn’t love a jumper. Or a thick cardigan??
I also love my man in a knitted jumper too *swoons*
I really love subtle floral patterns in Autumn and an oversized jumper.

I agree, wear a sweater and regret it in the afternoon! I love Autumn/Fall it’s my favorite season! I like when it gets freezing in the house because it’s still too hot during the day to turn the A/C down. The hoodies, blankies, melted marshmallows, color changing leaves, lol, I could go on, great post!

I love the changing colours but the angle of the light in the mornings and late afternoons hurts, even with sunglasses.
I think my favourite thing about Autumn is that it’s warm without being too hot and I love kicking leaves in the woods.
I agree. I need sunglasses more in the winter months than the summer x
I adore this. I have to say I think Autumn is my favourite season. I love the colours and the smells and the cosiness!
I can even cope with the rain at this time of year!

Great post! For me, the start is when we put the heating on in the house and the jumpers come out!
We’ve had the heating on already but only to run the system through, we had problems last year with the heating, not making that mistake again x

I love walking through autumn leaves too! But as I sit here and write this I’m sitting in a summer dress and it’s 24c! Looking forward to autumn finally making a proper appearance…
Today (Sunday) feels a bit more Autumn like but it is still warm
When we were living in the UK autumn always meant an annual trip to Westonbirt Arboretum. The autumn colours there are stunning if you catch them at the right time. I do miss proper autumn’s.

Autumn is my number one season! I live all year for it to be Autumn again. I just love everything about it – the colours, the smells, the weather. And it’s my birthday 🙂

I love this tag, for me, I know autumn has started when I have to turn to heat on at some point during the day.
We have been running ours through already because we had issues last year but I love that smell when the radiators are on for the first time after summer x
