AD – PR Event, We were invited to join Tall Tales mysteries on their latest event but all views are our own.
It does feel like all the normal Christmas events are off this year. But I am here to tell you how to entertain at Christmas online with Tall Tales mysteries.
Rob and I sat down early this week to talk about Christmas plans. I am as organised as I can be right now. But it was the things we would be missing out on that was at the heart of the conversation.

No work Christmas meals, not able to catch up’s with friends and no lovely festive days family days out. Cancelled family parties. It all seems so bleak and sad. But we need to stop thinking of it like that and try to look for the positives in this situation.
We’ve all be inventive during this time and turned to the online world for alternatives. There is no reason why Christmas can’t be the same.
How to entertain at Christmas with Tall tales mysteries
Tall Tales Mysteries
We were recently invited to join Sara and the team from Tall Tales mysteries for an online murder mystery evening.
I’ve never taken part in a murder mystery event before, in real life or online. Lots of friends regularly enjoy them.
F has been asking to do an escape room for a while, those are not accessible right now. I wondered if this would be something he could join in with. Sara advised that her biggest follower is a 13 year old so I thought we’d give it a go.

We chose to take part in the Silent movie murder. 48 hours before the event Sara sent through all we needed to join the event and our case file. This gave us an insight in to how the evening would run via the wonder that is Zoom.
The commuication between Sara and I was great, she provided all that I needed to know without giving anything away. I was excited to get started!
Silent Movie Murder
The wine was poured and we’d even manage to hook the computer up to the TV, WINNER! I was a little nervous but I needn’t have been.

There were 24 participants involved in the event plus 5 cast members and Sara who was the perfect hostess.
The night was split in to 3 chapters, each one perfectly played out and easy to follow. In between each chapter the players were split in to break out rooms. To spend time getting the suspects version of events. During this time you can have your camera’s on and unmute yourself. I loved that the actors/suspects were able to keep the story on track no matter what questions were asked of them.
The characters were believable and funny throughout. They played the story in such a way that it was easy to keep track of what was happening. I was worried I wouldn’t be able to keep up and have no idea who was responsible.
Clues were sent to us before we entered the breakout room, allowing us to build up a picture of what might have happened.
At any point through the evening you can contact Sara directly with your allegation or complete an allegation form. You must get in before the suspect gives themselves up!
Murder mystery with friends
Now what I love about this idea is that you can join in from home but play with your friends. All you need to do is purchase your own ticket but all give the same team name. This way you’ll all be put in the same break out room.
We didn’t dress up for the occasion but it is positively encouraged. If you happen to have a 1920’s style outfit in your collection, now is the time to break it out. Keep the champagne flowing and work together to grill the suspects!
I think this is the perfect substitute for the office night out or family get together.
They have upcoming Christmas party events and even a New years Eve special. And if you’re looking for an unusual gift idea, they are running a whole weekend of Murder mystery fun to enjoy at home. A full agenda from Friday 22nd January to Sunday 24th.
It is amazing how well this company have been able to adapt to the current ‘normal’ and just how well it works online.
Why not give this unique idea a try this year and entertain at Christmas online with all your family and friends, no matter how far away they are!
Do you think this is something you and your family would enjoy over Christmas?

Ooh this certainly sounds intriguing! I’ve done an online escape room, but I’m not the biggest fan (of escape rooms in general, not the way the online one was handled). This sounds like fun though!
I like this idea! I agree that when you think about it, christmas wont be the same this year and we do have a lot of missed activities and bondings with our loved ones. And I appreciate Tall Tales for making such a move to celebrate events online on a different but still an entertaning view. I haven’t done online events like this but this sure sounds fun to do! 😊 Thanks for sharing this! xx
How fun. I do think due to things this year it has given businesses a different way to still get people to be included and active. You’re in the comfort of your own home and being able to have fun with others
I love stuff like this. Mrs F has done escape room etc. But we love stuff like murder mysteries.. might give this a bash!
Thanks for sharing.
This sounds like so much fun! I’d absolutely love to give something like this a go. I mean, a real life murder mystery night would be better I think but whilst that’s not an option, I think this sounds brilliant. And something a little different too. Glad you had fun! xxx
Oo I love this idea! Christmas is going to look so different this year, but thankfully utilising the online space is a great way to stay in contact with loved ones 🙂
This sounds like a lot of fun, especially when you can sign up with friends and family!
I had no idea this was even a thing you could do online. I’ve seen Murder Mystery themed parties before and heard good things about them but this is so inventive. And perfect for friends and family alike – it sounds so much fun, Claire, thank you for sharing some good news and Christmas inspo! xxx
Ohhh this sounds like so much fun! I’ve heard of these home based parties before and they are such a great idea! The perfect opportunity to dress up and get into character too! 🙂 Sim x
Ooh! This sounds like so much fun! I’ve been wanting to try something like this for a while. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Sounds like such a fun event! I have not joined any online event yet but Tall Tales mysteries sounds so fun and a great way to dress up and have fun with friends during lockdown
I love Murder Mysteries and this just sounds amazing. Will definitely be recommending this to my family and friends especially around Christmas time
It’s great that even though we’re not going to have a normal Christmas there are still ways to entertain ourselves. This sounds really good fun. I’ve a friend that wanted to do a murder mystery for her birthday but obviously couldn’t. This would be a great alternative.
This sounds like such a fab idea, such a cool thing to try out during lockdown!
Oh wow this does sound so much fun I shall have to look into this. I haven’t done anything like that before so thanks for the review
I have been participarting in quite a few virtual murder mysteries but hadn’t heard of Tall Tales before. Would love to give theirs a go!
Now this sounds like so much fun! I love that companies are offering such fun things to do through such difficult times.
This sounds soo cool – my sister in law went to a murder mystery night before this all happened and has been going mad about how much fun it was!!

This sounds like a brilliant idea. It sounds like you had great fun. I’ve always wanted to do a murder mystery evening but I have to admit, I’m a bit of a wimp and I’m not good at solving things either! The thought of being able to do it in the comfort of my own home really appeals to me.
Funnily enough, I have a 1920s dress in my wardrobe 😂
This sounds like so much fun, I love the idea behind it. I know my friends would love something like this too. Great review!

We’re doing a virtual escape room and fun and games with work. And we’ve set up a girlie Christmas catch up online with games and quizzes which will be fun x
We’ve done murder mystery dinner parties before. They are so much fun. I wonder how the virtual one would compare – especially if it’s a large group of players.
Aw what a fab idea with the virtual escape and a great way to keeo the festive fun going and mood on a high x
I love the concept of the idea and this sounds like so much fun! x

This is an interesting activity to do at Christmas. I am sure this will be fun for some families. Thank you for sharing lovely.
This sounds really good fun!Not heard of it before but perfect for Christmas dos this year!
Love this! I’ve always wanted to do a Murder Mystery night and love the fact that you can now do it from the comfort of your own home. Sounds like lots of fun!
Our Christmas isn’t going to be that much different, too be honest, apart from our cancelled theatre visit as we don’t have any family that live close enough to meet with. I love the sound of this online murder mystery though.
Thanks for sharing, this looks a lovely way to keep entertained over the Christmas break 🙂
We love a good mystery and this definitely looks like something we would be up for doing over Xmas
It was so much fun x x
