Where did February go? In a blur of books and good news it feels like. Things are looking up now right? We have a goal, a focus now. Roll on April. But for now, let’s take a look at the books I got lost in during February.
The huge amount of books I read in January were going to take some beating, I knew I wouldn’t come close in February but maybe it’s quality of quantity?

Where The Crawdad sings – Delia Owen
So I started this in January and although I was just getting in to it, it was taking a while. I always worry when a book is so popular that I am just not going to ‘get it’. This book though, WOW.
Beautifully written, descriptive with such a deep written connection to nature. I could visualise every inch of the marsh and felt Kya’s character development as if I was watching my own child grow.
To say some ugly crying happened over the last chapter and for quite some time after would be an understatement.
Read it. Love it and share it. You will not regret it.
Book 1 – 5/5
The Catch – T.M. Logan
This is a book I choose pick up thanks to Book Club for babes, It was selected as one of 2 monthly reads. I choose this one purely because it was on offer on Amazon! I could not be prepared for how much I loved this book.
We follow Father, Ed on a mission to prove to his daughter, Abbie, that she is about to marry a monster. The story takes you on a constant journey, trying to figure out which man in Abbie’s life is the crazy one, which is hiding a deadly secret.
I spent the whole book trying to figure out who the bad guy was. It had just the right mix of nice family moments, Fatherly love, mystery and twists and turns. I was on the edge of my seat for over 400 pages. A great read and I am looking forward to reading more from this Author.
Book 2 – 4/5
The Book Club – C.J. Cooper
Because I currently feel like a book club member, I had to read this book. Although I am not sure I’d like to be a member of this particular book club!
A club full of secrets and a need for deadly revenge!
New to the village Alice is soon pulling the strings of all the book club members, they all begin to have their doubts about her motives. As she seems to be picking off their secrets one by one, watching them all unravel, waiting for their lives to implode. But what bought her to this peaceful Cotswolds village?
I really enjoyed this book although there seemed to be an awful lot of build up to a big event with no real closure. It certainly didn’t ruin the book though.
Book 3 – 3.5/5
The Donor – Clare Mackintosh
This book was bought purely because it was £1, Yes I am that kind of book buyer! Plus I needed to try and up the content I comsumed this month and this 102 page quick read was perfect.
When their daughter receives a life saving heart donation the family were warned that finding out about the donor would be a bad move. When a woman reaches out to them and shares that their daughters heart had come from her 17 year old son, a relationship began to develop. But there was more to this story than a happy ending!
I really enjoyed this and so much happened in such a short book which is a sign of a good writer. I’d definitely recommend if you have a spare hour.
Book 4 – 4/5
The Midnight Library – Matt Haig
Since I read Anika’s review on her blog Chapter’s of May, I’ve been desperate to read this book. It took me so long as I prefer a paperback book. I read in bed and often drop books on my face… I honestly wish I was joking but I’m not. So a paperback is safer!
I’ve only been reading for 2 days and I am over half way through. I want to race through it and savour every moment all at the same time. I was instantly hooked. The concept of the Midnight library, the character’s and the pace make this a magical read.
It’s beautiful, poignant and thought provoking as well as amazingly well written. I like the short chapters and the incredible detail given to each life that Nora Seed chooses. The glimpses of another life based on regrets in her real timeline.
Reading this book, the world stops and all I can imagine is the Midnight library. A book that has me completely transported, thinking of my own regrets and life path.
Book 5 – 6/5!
Audiobook choices for February
This newly found love will soon be a thing of the past already! In just a few days I will no longer work from home. I don’t think I can subject my work pals to my literary choices.
But here is what I’ve been listening to and enjoying this month.

Moving in to March
I already know this month and probably the rest of the year will be a little more hit and miss now on the reading front. As life returns, it will be busier and less time will be spent at home. I vow here and now though to make time to keep reading.
Although once I have completed the Midnight library and The guest list, I will have hit my Goodreads goal for the year!
Plus, I bought A LOT OF BOOKS this month! That in itself will give me a push to keep reading.

Apart from Matt Haig, there are a lot of amazing books and authors here! The Book Club and The Catch sound fab. And I can’t wait to finally get around to reading Crawdads. It’s sitting on my bookcase 🙂 xx

Oh wow, you have got a LOT of books to read over the next few months! Like you, I adored Where The Crawdads Sing and I am praying they don’t stuff it up when it becomes a film. I’ve recently finished The Song of Achilles, The Starless Sea, and The Queen’s Gambit (I haven’t watched the Netflix series yet) all of which were utterly immersive – highly recommended! x
Oh brilliant, I will check it out. I have watched the Queens Gambit and was blown away! I really didn’t think i would enjoy it but wow!
Congratulations on being so close to reaching your Goodreads goal already, that’s a huge achievement! 🙂 I haven’t read Where The Crawdads Sing yet (even though I own a copy) because like you did, I have concerns that I might not enjoy it as much as everyone else seems to. (Hyped books are always hit or miss with me.) But after your review, I’m more confident that it will be an enjoyable read so hopefully I’ll get around to that one soon. 🙂
