We all have those special picture’s that tell a story don’t we? Those lovely picture’s that really paint a thousand words as they say.
I’ve always over shared on my blog when it comes to Photographs. My look back over the last 10 years for example. But my blog is my baby, like a very un-private diary. One which I love to share with you. But because it comes from a love of seeing other people’s lives too.
World Photography day
With today being World photograph day, I thought I would share some of these pictures with you. The ones that tell a story without having to say a word.
Pictures are such a powerful way of cherishing a memory forever. I have so many clear memories of my early childhood, but I wonder if they are true memories.
My parent’s always had a lot of photographs and we’d spend hours going through them as children. Mum would share her memories based on a picture and I wonder if this is where my early memories really came from.
Seeing a picture makes a moment come to life and feel so real. I suppose it is one of the reason why I currently have 13,261 pictures on my iphone!
I want my children to have the same feelings when we sit and share pictures together. I’m hoping they will have strong memories of their childhood thanks to the pictures we’ve taken.
Lovely picture’s that really paint a thousand words
Here are the pictures that make me smile, bring a tear to my eye but most importantly transport me back to a precious memory.
Now of course, you won’t know the memory behind the picture, so I will have to paint it for you slightly.
Mumma and Me

This picture is one I adore and if you follow me on twitter you’ll probably recognise it. Everytime I see this picture I just feel that rush of love from my Mum. It reminds me of my own feelings towards F when he was this age.
Champagne Claire

This picture is one that I remember being talked about so much that my memory of it is based on that of others. Here we are, celebrating my Aunt’s birthday in Hyde park and I am putting the cork back in to the champagne bottle. We took the train down and it was probably my first London trip, the first of many! A real adventure for a 2 year old.
First Nanny cuddles

As if that face doesn’t say it all! Proud Grandma. This picture acts as a reminder for the crazy 10 hours that was my birth story. I am so glad now that I was able to share that experience with my Mum. Seeing this picture proves just how much she adored him from the minute she first held him.
Sunshine on my face Mummy

F was around 2 and a half here. It was like he had just seen the sun for the very first time. Something we all just take for granted was a moment of pure joy for him. ‘Mummy it makes my face all warm and my eyes go closey’
From the mouth of babes. I will always feel the pure joy whenever I look at this picture.
When my boy took me on a date

F had won a meal at a local pub at the Christmas fayre one year. His excitement to take his Mum out! He said he was taking me on a date.
He’d even let himself out the house and knocked on the door to ‘collect’ me for our date. It was one of the loveliest day’s I have ever had with my boy. I will treasure it forever and hope that he will always treat women with this much respect.
Disney Reveal!

This picture is special because it almost didn’t exist. I had asked Mum to record my Disney trip reveal. Sadly Mum was just taking constant pictures and not filming it. I was devastated at the time because his reaction was beyond anything I could have hoped for and to think I couldn’t watch it back was horrible.
Until I saw this picture and realised I didn’t need to see the video, THIS picture will always remind me of his joy and excitement!
Happiness!!

This picture sums up what was a beautifully happy day for not just the bride and groom but everyone who attended. Even 4 year’s later we all still talk about what a great day this was.
This picture radiates happiness and for that reason I will smile with eyes filled up while reminiscing on a wonderful day.

This picture was taken on the same day but is even more special for me. I look at this one and it sums up 25 years of friendship. A moment captured forever.
One that will remain with me for so much more than just my best friends wedding. If this picture could tell you our stories… well you’d be here for weeks!
Smiling

Oh Mum! How I miss you. When I look at this picture I don’t just see this smile, I see every smile she ever displayed, hear her laughing and imagine she is right here next to me.
My smiling Angel and a picture that will always make me feel close to her.

Show me a child who doesn’t love to be at the seaside? A visit to Bournemouth was the setting for this picture and for me, when I look at it I can almost hear the sea and the kids squealing with delight.
Just looking back on this day, I feel lovely and warm! It was possibly the first time my friend and I had been away and felt redundant. The children enjoyed a little more freedom than they were used to it was like watching them grow up over a few days.
The look of love

A picture full of love, one that shows exactly how I feel about this wonderful man. It was the day we decided to have a wedding blessing at the hospice Mum was in. Despite all the heartbreak that surrounded this time, my love for him was always there.
The Hospice will always have a place in my heart but I am so glad that there is some positive memories attached to it.
Holding hands

The hand that held me as a newborn, fed and bathed me, walked me to school, taught me to cross a road and played with me. The hand that drove me around like an unpaid taxi driver, handed out pocket money, passed over gifts and received them, the hand that held mine tight while I had a baby, held on while I took F for his injections. A hand that ALWAYS had my back.
The last act for me was to hold her’s until I couldn’t any more. Clinging to her as if both our lives depended on it.
If only the power of holding her hand could have changed the outcome, I’d of held on forever.
This is another picture of my Mum that will forever speak to me, paint a picture so bright her memory will never fade from my mind.
To summarise
Take as many pictures as you can, life is short and deserves to be treasured forever. One day a picture will bring you close to a person you miss. It will allow you to teach your young children about family they will never meet.
A picture really is worth a thousand words. It can say everything without saying a word.
What picture’s do you have that tell a story, hold a memory or become your favourites? I’d love to see them. Why not pop over to Instagram and tag me in it!

Me too! I’m usually behind the camera these days but I do need to change that. I can already see that my Mum was behind the camera more than in front. I don’t want to make the same mistake x
I teared up a little reading this. These pictures are absolutely beautiful. I love the one of your mother holding your son, or your son with the sun on his face (that story is super cute!) and of course the last one, such a precious memory ❤️

A wonderful idea and selection photos, we decided a few years to take as many pictures as we can and save them to the cloud for the future, we have so many now but it helps record our lives and brings backs a range of emotions when you look at them.
Lovely photos and memories. I can spend hours looking through photo albums.
This is such a great idea! I get nagged at for not taking enough photos 😬 which I don’t to be fair 😂
Wow your family is so beautiful, you were also a gorgeous little girl back then that’s why you gave birth to that cute boy over there. I’m so touched by your son taking you to a date it’s very adorable what a memory. This was a lovely post thank you for sharing this and by the way when it comes to me I don’t have much childhood photo’s but most of them are adult one’s and since I don’t have Instagram there are some photos of myself used in my blog on a post titled “THINGS TO DO TO BE MORE INTOUCH WITH YOURSELF” so if you interested you can check those out.

Thank you so much Jess x x
I love looking back at pictures and the memories they bring, every picture has a story and memory behind them x
I actually teared up a little reading this. You’re so right, pictures are so important. With how easy it is to take photos now, I always seem to take as many as I can – family gatherings, days out, even just something that might be completely random to someone but mean a lot to me. I love looking back over photos and being reminded of all the happiness in that one moment. Really great post – thank you for sharing x
These are so lovely, and it’s true that photos bring back memories. I love having old photos to just look back on and find out information about my parents and grandparents.
Wow, this was such a moving post! You have an amazing collection of photos on your phone!
Thank you Sarah. I have so many photos on my phone, I am amazed I have space!
Such lovely photos! I love taking photos and looking back out all our happy memories! Thank you for sharing!
You have some absolutely wonderful memories attached to some lovely photos, Claire. I think your boy coming to collect you for your date, the Disney reveal, and your mum in blue smiling are the ones that stand out for me. You’re so right, it’s important to take as many pictorial memories as we can. But occasionally it would be nice if the men took a few photos as well, I have so few of Flora and me but masses of her and her dad! Thank you for sharing your memories with us, Lisa xx
I love looking at old photos. It’s nice to go through them with Erin now.
Lovely photos. I totally missed that it was World Photography Day.
Such a lovely and wholesome post!
Thank you Lily x
I love looking back at old photo’s, we have just been sent some of my mum and grandad when they are young with relatives I barely knew I had

Thank you for sharing your lovely photos, we should share more moments like these, so we don’t loose those memories, your last one I was a bit teary eyed to 🙂
