Journal love
I have only in the last year or so even heard of journaling. I kept a diary for the last 4 or 5 years, just a small snapshot of each day but that was all I really had time for. Now I want to invest some time on my journal so here are 31 Journal Prompts to make time for you.
Once I had looked in to a little more, I realised that it was probably exactly what I needed at the time. A reason to write but more importantly to make time for me each day, a time to slow down.
I still keep a diary but this was in addition to that. The best bit? It meant I got to buy new stationary!! This is the one I chose for this as it is not a huge amount of space to fill but offers a little more than a traditional diary or planner. You can buy it Here

Blogging and journaling
I’ve slipped somewhat recently, and I suspect that is because I spend so much of my spare time on my blog. I wouldn’t change it for the world but I began to wonder if there was a way to combine my love of blogging and journal writing. So I came up with a list of Journal prompts for July. I don’t think I will blog my journal each day but I will certainly make time to review it at the end of July.
If you have ever wanted to try keeping a Journal, why not join in. I have kept it fairly low key for this month, ease in gently but I hope this is successful and maybe I can step it up next time.

I’d love to hear how you get on if you join in or your experiences of Journal writing if you are a regular.
Here’s to a mindful July.

I’d love to give journaling a try! It’s a fantastic record to have to look back on, and also to pass down through generations. Your prompts are so thoughtful – and helpful too when thinking about what to write.
Thank you annette, I wanted to keep it fairly low key for the first month, it is a great opportunity for some quiet reflection x
What a great way to reflect on what’s going on in your life and a fantastic record. I also love the idea that its an opportunity to go and buy some fancy stationary hehe
I’m a bugger for stationary. I am already planning on what I might buy over the summer for returning to work after the 6 week break! I need help!
Oo these are great prompts! I love the ‘what made you smile today?’ prompt – it’s something I need to concentrate on more 🙂
Thank you! It is so nice to be able to reflect on the day in a positive way x
Thank you for your post. It has given me an idea to write a journal. I liked the list of things to consider… a great way to sit and reflect too. xxx
I haven’t gotten into journalling but it’s something I’d love to do – useful prompts here!
Thank you x x
I don’t write every day because I get stuck what to write about. Journal prompts would help with that!
It certainly brings a focus x
Some good prompts there, as sometimes staring at a blank page can be daunting! I used a diary sporadically when I was younger but could never commit to it. I would like to try journalling now though, as I’ve had a few people tell me it’s a good activity for mental health and self care.
It’s been hugely beneficial to me. I hope you find it to be helpful too x
I love this!
I haven’t journaled since I was a child and forced to in school.
This is so inspirational and I’m really looking forward to focusing on this in July!
Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you so much, I hope you enjoy it x x
I love these prompts – I’ll definitely use them as a guide. I have a gratitude journal which I fill in at the end of the day but have been a bit slack with it.
It’s so easy to let it slip x
I’ve started one a few times but I seem to end up forgetting to make time for it eventually
I’m so guilty of that too x
I started journaling earlier this year and I’m loving it! Great idea with the prompts. I especially like the one with what you would do tomorrow if you could forget work. This would keep motivated to work harder that day so I could have that work free day😊
That’s such a good motivation!
Love the prompts! I have a happiness journal that I use and it keeps me sane!
I want to get into journaling, but I never know where to start. I’m saving this list of prompts. Thank you!
Aww glad I could help x
I’ve never kept a journal but I know many people that do and they love it! I like the idea that it’s a bit of time for you each day to reflect on things. Quiet time like that is really important. I may give it a go!
I hope you get a chance, it’s such an important part of my day now x
This is a great list! I like to flex my writing muscles, even if it doesn’t lead to a blog post or a book chapter 🙂
Thank you Sarah x
I love the prompts, I think they’d work well as after dinner conversation starters with the kids too. X
They really do. I have a journal for the children as well, but that’s a whole other blog!
I love this, what a motivational post for sure. I like the ‘what made me smile today’ thought xx

These are great, especially for those days when you do not know where to start.
I’ve tried so many times to keep a journal but I think it’s just not for me. I can never stick with it for more than a couple of weeks.
I was the same and blogging really does take over my spare time, but I am determined to stick with July x
I’d love to give journalling a try, but as you say I spent most of my spare time blogging. It must be great to read back.
I can lose hours reading back through old diaries and journals!

Thank you 😍
I’m really new to journaling and I’ve been wanting to start for a while but I was a little lost on what to write about. Thank you for this really useful guide. When I look back in a few years to my journal, I’ll know exactly how I felt at this moment and where my life was at xxx
It is a great way to look back over the years x x
Great minds think alike! I’m participating in a #JournalinginJuly challenge too and I’m enjoying the thought that goes into responding to each day’s prompt. I try to set a time limit so I don’t overthink my responses and I’m co-hosting a weekly linkup on Saturday’s for the week. It’s good fun and good for your mind’s creativity! Great prompts on your list too Claire 🙂
