Crafting Lockdown

Beautiful scrapbook designs to capture lockdown

AD- This is a paid advertorial but all views are my own

I have made no secret about how I feel around lockdown. I’ve tried to remain positive and find the good in it. Creating scrapbook designs to capture lockdown seemed like the best way to document this highly unusual time.

Scrapbooking

For years I have enjoyed creating scrapbooks. I usually make them as gifts for people. They are such a great way to store memories and show someone how much they mean to you. It involves a lot of work but it makes it even more special as a gift.

Not often though do I decide to create one just for us. Creating something together as a family that we can share.

We all love to take photographs in my family and some of my most cherish memories as a child are spending hours going through my parents photo’s from as far back as their own childhood. I want to be able to be able to create those memories with my own children.

Rather than having piles of photographs that no one ever looks at, I’d rather fill my home with personal scrapbooks that we’ve worked on together.

Lockdown memories

It has of course been a really difficult time for everyone. But once lock down was announced, I knew I wanted to find a way to document the time.

I created some lockdown journal prompts which seemed like a great way to combine some of my interests, blogging and journaling.

Alongside this, I knew I wanted to create something more visual. A diary of lock down and all the activities we did during that time.

With restrictions in place, we were of course isolated from our loved ones but also limited to the places we could visit. We soon exhausted our local park, but this meant we discovered some really beautiful places on our doorstep.

It wasn’t long before we found our rhythm and came up with some great ‘stay at home’ activities to document as well. A scrapbook is the ideal way to pull all of these wonderful memories together for us all to enjoy.

How to create perfect Scrapbook designs

When it came to planning our scrapbook, I was unsure how to start. In steps Design Bundles and their scrapbook designs.

I could spend hours looking at all the wonderful designs available in so many different formats. But that will not get our scrapbook finished will it.

With so many designs available to choose from, it didn’t take long to realise what direction I wanted to go in. I wanted it bright and cheery and colourful. Think rainbows and outdoor feel. We all remember how significant the rainbow was during lockdown and I wanted to capture that.

The beauty of Design bundles is the wide range of formats that the designs are available in. As I had already got physical photo’s printed and a scrapbook purchased, I needed to use the digital papers in a sightly different way.

Design Bundles

As I have already mentioned, I wanted to go for a really colourful theme. I want to capture the positives of Lockdown rather than focus on the obvious negatives.

It didn’t take me very long to find just what I wanted. They were easy to download the designs I’d chosen as a jpg file. This meant I could then print them off and a good quality, thick paper.

I was blown away by how well they printed. I’d been worried that so I would lose some of the colour or that they would not work at all. The background patterns for my scrapbook were now ready to use and I could not be more excited!

See how we got on with our lockdown scrapbook designs.

Beautiful scrapbook designs

I absolutely loved the rainbow design as a first page of our scrapbook. This image could be downloaded in various formats and was actually a free design. This image could also be put on a t-shirt which is such a great idea.

As this is a family project we kept the designs quite simple. I let the children choose the papers they wanted to match the photographs they were in.

This was such a lovely activity to do as a family and has in fact become a bit of an obsession. The girls are not aware yet but I have made them a scrapbook hamper each for Christmas. I’ll be including a gift voucher for Design Bundles so they can have as much fun as I did picking from all the available designs.

Have you considered capturing the highlights of lock down in any format? Would a scrapbook be a fun way for your family to look back over 2020. A year that has without a doubt been the craziest of years!
