These boots are made for walking

These Boots are made for walking
These Boots are made for walking

And that’s just what they did….

Rob being the keen walker that he is, had been trying to convince me for sometime that i needed to invest in a decent pair of walking boots.
‘You can walk for miles with a good pair of walking boots’ He told me on many occasion.

He said i needed to spend on them and not just buy the cheapest. I did do that, but i mainly bought these because they are pink. Ok so not mainly, it is in fact the only reason i bought these boots!

We took these boots, along with Rob’s and F’s and found ourselves at the Peak District… actually that makes it sound like an accident, we did in fact plan for this and booked an Air Bnb in advance so i guess we didn’t just find ourselves there, we went with purpose, and the purpose was to walk these beauties up some steep pathways, through mud, and bogs and over trees.

What i didn’t expect was that i’d enjoy it as much as I did. It was a beautifully hot day, The views were out of this world and even F seemed to embrace every moment of rock climbing, exploring and the spectacular views.

The walk itself was enough to keep you interested, The moss covered gorges with water trickling down, the river Dane which appeared in various parts of the walk and the fact that the forest areas were coming to life. Don’t get me wrong, it was tough, the last incline in particular was a real struggle. But eating a picnic so high up in the air with nothing but wall to wall sunshine and the views to match made it all completely worth it and i’d do it again tomorrow.

The walk back was a little less pleasant but it was certainly entertaining as Rob assured us he knew where we were going. Thick bog like fields were where we were heading, by this point F had given up. All around us we could see the road we were aiming for but figuring out the best way to get to it took some time and lots of gentle encouragement. We were all delighted to finally make the road, F in fact was so delighted he cried! Honestly it had nothing to do with him being stroppy, or having wet feet or generally being exhausted. Rob stepped up like the superstar he is and ran the mile back to the car while we took a slow walk back. I managed to distract F by allowing him to completely ruin the new avengers film for me… Thanks Kiddo! But his smile returned and the promise of an ice cream soon made him forget his woes.
It’s tough being 10!

I am very sad to report that my boots are now dirty, and i hate to admit it but Rob was right, Comfy boots could keep you walking for miles. I hope to get the boots out again very soon.

    1. It really made it so much easier. It was a really hot day but I didn’t feel as hot as I would in bulky trainers, that really helped x

There’s nothing like good footwear when you’re going for long walks, especially on rough terrain. I can’t see the boots as pink: I see them blue on the photo, he he!

I’ve got two pairs of walking boots now, a clean pair and a dirty pair. The clean ones I only wear on nice days… I’d hate for them to get dirty! We went to the Roaches recently too. Love it there x

More walks this summer please! Its a wonderfully cheap day out, just the cost of petrol and maybe a car park fee and you’re in the best theme park there is. I hope I can encourage the kids to catch the bug.
