Journal Prompts for Valentines

Journal prompts for Valentines

It feels like a long time since I put my last lot of journal prompts together. And now I am creating journal prompts for Valentines!

Journal Prompts for Valentines
Journal Writing

The month of love is upon us. The month where we are all conned in to spending more money than we can afford to show our partners how much we love them.

I sound like a cynic right? I don’t mean to but I think it is really important that we tell our partners what they mean to us all the time. Seeing how popular my post for Rob was, it seems you all agree.

That said any reason to have a nice meal and carve out some quality time together is good by me. And of course to focus my journal prompts for Valentines.

Keeping memories

When I look back over my journals, I love remembering all the significant moments. I like to see what has change and reflect on moments in my life that were important.

Building memories with Journal prompts
Building Memories

Why not love as well?

How amazing would it be to look back in 50 years time and recall falling in love and how it felt? I am sure the Grandchildren would love to hear it … Maybe!

It would be just like The Notebook! I love that film.

You could really impress the Grand-children by telling them about all the things their parents said when you interviewed them using my Children’s journal prompts.

Journal Prompts

1. How did you meet?

2. What was your first date like?

3. As of today, how long have you been together?

4. How did you know you were falling in love?

5. Who said I love you first?

6. When do you feel loved the most?

7. What is your favourite thing to do together?

8. What is your partners best quality and why?

9. What is your partners worst quality and how do you combat that?

10. What do you admire most about them?

11. Do you have the same goals for your future?

12. Are you very similar or do opposites attract?

  1. I have never actually seen the notebook, I think it’s about time I did. Oh I love this idea for journal prompts for Valentines Day. Perhaps I could join in with these prompts this year.

  2. Valentines day is one of those weird ones, people focus so much on gifts and cards but the true celebration of love is being together and making memories rather than going all consumer on it. However, it is pushed extremely consumerist. At least that is my take. I feel like your journal ideas are in a much better spirit of the day.

    What a lovely idea.

      Thank you x

  4. Aaaw, such a sweet post. Although these prompts don’t necessarily work for us singletons. Thankfully in my culture Valentine’s is called the ‘Friends’ Day’ (literal translation) and this includes absolutely everyone. No pressure to find a date when you’ve already got a bunch of people you love to spend the day with <3

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

I actually think I prefer that idea! I don’t spend anywhere near enough time with my girlfriends as we are all busy Mums. Next year it’s girl day! Love it x

  5. I love these! Its a great way to document your very own love story!

  6. Manahil says:

I’m in love with this idea of journaling 🙂

  7. Wow! Some great ideas here. I always think it’s far too easy to forget all this small things and why you got together in the first place.

  8. Hmm great idea. Maybe I should start a jurnal.🤗🤗🤗🤗

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

      I adore my journal x

  9. What a lovely list. I’m going to pin this for later as we might sit down and do this together on Valentine’s Day. Thank you!

  10. Ah, Claire, this is so gorgeous. I love how each question really made me stop and consider before I came up with an answer. I do something similar for Flora each birthday but I’ve never done anything like this for or with Alan. I don’t think he’d sit down and do this but I can, even if I keep the answers to myself for now 🙂 Thank you, it’s a lovely idea x

  11. Joanna says:

Creating a love journal can definitely be an amazing idea, especially to remember all those good times when you grow older. It is a memory that can last forever, generations to come, safely kept in the family.

  12. This would be quite good for a Q&A session on the Valentine’s evening if you are having a date night! few drinks and giggles.

  13. You had me at the Notebook:) I loveeee that book and movie.
I don’t really journal, but I do digital scrapbooking. My oldest kids are now 9 (twins) and they absolutely LOVEEE going through albums I made for their dad and I before they were born, they are fascinated by it:) so it’s a great idea. I loved going through these questions and especially the one about what I love most about my partner – it was interesting to see that the answers remained the same 13 years late.

  14. Lilinha says:

  15. I love this idea! My hubby and I have told the kids so much about when we were younger and how we met as of course our kids want to know everything lol! It would be nice though to get some sort of photo album together for photos and notes about us from past to present 🙂

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

Thats a really lovely idea Rachel. Memories are so special x x

  16. What a great idea. It reminds of the game mr and Mrs we played over the festive period. We had to sign a disclaimer before playing it (as a joke). It definitely brings back some lovely memories

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

Oh I bet you had some fun playing that x x

  17. My mummy loves scrapbooking and would love to take these prompts and make some artwork for me to look back on when they are older x

  18. Thank you for the journal prompts – I love to write in a journal but struggle to know what to write sometimes if you know what I mean.

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

I know exactly what you mean. That’s why I started these monthly posts. Glad to help x x

  19. Rachel Evans says:

I love this! I recently made a scrapbook of all lovely things I’ve kept from my children. This is a fab idea, this Valentine’s Day (we don’t really celebrate valentines) me and my husband will have been married 9 years. I think I’ll start putting things together, I love the idea of a journal full of memories!

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

I have all my journals, I love going back through them. Some of the entries are so random that I think i’d like to watch my loved ones find them after I pass away! They’d think I was insane!

These are lovely journal prompts and it’s always nice to have something nice to look back on read. I did a similar thing a while ago for when I was feeling a bit down of things I loved about myself, my life and my partner x

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

That is such a good idea Rhian. We do need to remind ourselves how amazing we are and those around us x x

  26. I really love this idea and what a memory to leave to future generations or review with your significant other-like a time capsule. You have some good journal prompts there. Thanks for the boosts of inspiration Claire!

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

Thank you so much Donna. Its very much a time capsule, an opportunity to capture memories before we forget them x

  27. I love this idea especially because as time goes on memories fade and I know I’ll begin to forget some of the specifics of all these amazing moments. It would be great to have a record of them so when I read them back I can remember them in detail!

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

Thank you so much Emma. I agree, all too often time changes our memory of things, with a journal it is there forever.

  28. Awh lovely journal prompts for the romantics among us! I love your themed journal prompts as they really give you a chance to look into different areas of your life! xxx

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

Thank you, I think so too x x

  32. Hi Claire, to echo many of the other comments, this is a great way to celebrate, but I must admit that if I need one day or month a year to show my husband that I love him, that to me that is a sad state of my journey and marriage of 40++ years. Love should be shown on a daily basis, in small things you do or say, and not once a year. Having said that, I do not expect others to agree with me on this, this is my personal opinion, and we do not do anything special for Valentine’s day, other than to again show AMS (his initials) that I still love him and if possible more than 40+ years ago.

  33. I love the idea of answering the prompts for future grandchildren to enjoy!

  34. Sadly, I don’t have a romantic partner to share my Valentine’s with, but at least I can spend my money instead on the sales and discounts at the mall? Haha. I’ve seen The Notebook, I don’t remember why but that film made me cry! Lovely post, these are great prompts.

    1. clairelomax2018 says:

I have always kept a diary, but about 6 years ago I found some posts on pinterest that inspired me x

  38. This is a great list. It slows your thinking down and makes you appreciate the depths of one another. I think it would be very interesting to do it year by year and to see if anything changes or stays the same.

  41. I don’t keep a journal, but I do love a good Q&A. My husband and I met in Japanese night class, over ten years ago. I’ve forgotten most of my Japanese, but I gained a husband so I guess the lessons were still a good investment, haha.

  42. Love this idea – have never thought of it before – will have to give it a go
