My most viewed Blog posts of 2019

101 blog posts!

As my blog reaches the grand number of 100, I wanted to look back over my most viewed blog posts.

Although the honor of post 100 went to my lovely Fiance and his 40th Birthday. This post is a little belated.

It feels like a really big deal to reach 100 posts. My blog started as a way to record family life. It fast became my safe place. A place where I could talk about what life was throwing at us with the loss of my Mum.

The first time I opened up about that was in this post about her cancer and I am still overwhelmed by the response and number of views.

From there my love of writing combined with the positive feedback, my little blog has become my favourite place.

Blog planning

When I sat down to work on my new blog planner, I started by looking back at 2019 and my most viewed posts.

What worked, what didn’t work so well and where I should focus moving forward.

It became quite clear from the numbers that my niche was grief. These posts far exceeded the stats on any other post.

But in reality though I can’t continue to write about grief and that alone. It is not good for my own mental health. This doesn’t mean I will ever step away from it, It just means I will find another sub niche that will work for me.

Most viewed posts of 2019

1. How to survive Mothers day

This post was the first published on my new site following the move from Blogger. The reason for its success could be that it was picked up by a hugely popular page about grief on Facebook.

Whatever the reason, It’s success showed I had written something of value to others.

2. How to survive and support in the 5 stages of grief

This post still get views via Pinterest even 9 months later so it has obviously been popular.

Finding a suitable way to mark Mum’s first birthday was hard. When I have shared so much about her, a blog post felt only right.

9. 10 things to know about Hospice care

I write to raise awareness, so this post was written in the hope that I could dispel some misconceptions around Hospices. People continue to read and I hope the message continues to spread.

10. Journal prompts for the list lovers

It would seem that you all love list’s as much as I do! My journal prompts have proved popular but the list one really seemed to inspire.

Journal prompts for List lovers

What lies ahead for Our favourite jar?

As I have said, I can’t keep talking about grief. That doesn’t mean I won’t cover it at all because it is part of me. And of course my Mum is still a huge part of my life and I love writing about her.

I want to write about what I enjoy, about family life and our adventures, take it back to where it started for my blog.

Now I own my very own piece of the world wide web, I am looking forward to working back through my posts. Building in SEO to some of those scarily bad early posts and increasing my DA.

Maybe even gain some brand relationships, who know’s it is an exciting time though!

What works?

The monthly journal prompts will stay, I enjoy putting them together and having a daily focus for my own journal.

I have not yet decided if my monthly round up will continue either. Although it is always fun to put together and look back, I am not sure how much value it brings to my blog.

What I’d like to focus on more is topical posts. I have really enjoyed writing about subjects that are in the news, trending on twitter or the talk in the office. When I’ve written posts like this before, I’ve always doubt myself. I wonder if I am being too controversial or if I am just missing the point but they’ve always proved popular.

Maybe I’ll start a wedding series as well, I am no expert but I am learning and I would love to share that journey with you, especially anyone also wedding planning.

Thank you!

And I guess that’s enough for one year! I can’t wait to see what 2020 holds for Our Favourite Jar and for all those that have supported my blog. Without you my most viewed blog posts of 2019 would not have seen the light of day!

The one thing that has kept me going this year and not made me throw in the towel is you guys. So thank you, from the bottom of my heart!

What were your most popular posts this year? Feel free to drop your top one in the comments section and I will head over and check it out.

  57. I love these posts. I like doing this myself and I’m always surprised by the results. It’s hardly surprising that your most viewed posts are about grief. You have such a way of talking about it. And if that doesn’t support what I said about taking it further – perhaps an eBook – then I dunno what does! I’ve loved so many of your posts from the last year – can’t wait to see what this year has in store for you! xxx

    1. clairelomax2018 says:
