Live to Travel and Love to journal

We all love a holiday, some of us live to travel. This last year has taught us more than ever the importance of travel. When someone tells you that you can’t do something the need and want to do it increases! Human nature I guess. Once we are allowed to travel further afield, I think we will be wanting to treasure the importance of wonder of it even more. This is why I wanted to create some new journal prompts. This time for those who live to travel and love to journal!

Capturing memories

For me creating a journal has always been about capturing a moment. A place to reflect daily on what we’ve been doing, where we have been and of course how we feel. So much more than a diary, a place that holds more than significant dates. A journal can be a snippet of life, pages of detail or photo’s and memento’s.

Which is why documenting your travel adventures in a journal is the perfect way to capture your memories but also your future dreams.

Live to Travel and Love to journal

The beauty of a journal is that the sky is the limit. You can reflect on everything from way back or dreams of things to come. This is why journal prompts and travelling are a winning combination.

  • What is your earliest memory of travelling?
  • How many countries have you visited?
  • Your favourite way to travel and why?
  • You have £10,000 to spend, where are you going?
  • Where would your ideal city break be?
  • What sort of holiday do you favour?
  • Top 10 countries on your bucket list?
  • Where would you never visit again?
  • What is it about holidays that you love?
  • Museum or beach?
  • Pool side holiday or adventure holiday?
  • Countries you have no desire to travel to?
  • Where has been your favourite destination?
  • Funniest holiday moment?
  • Any travel disasters?
  • Who is your ideal travel buddy?
  • What is your packing essential?
  • Have you ever travelled solo? How did you find the experience?
  • What is the best picture you have any taken on a holiday?
  • Do you embrace local cuisine?

Ready for more?
  • What has been the best meal you’ve ever eaten abroad?
  • The worst hotel experience you’ve ever had?
  • Where was the most beautiful place you visited?
  • Greatest holiday day out?
  • What is the best souvenir you’ve ever bought?
  • What’s the craziest thing you’ve seen on holiday?
  • Is there somewhere you’ve visited that you feel a connection to?
  • 5 star luxury or camping?
  • Do you like to plan your holiday out in advance before you arrive?
  • Have you travelled a lot in your own country?
  • Have you ever forgotten something essential?
  • Did you ever lose something while you were on holiday?
  • Have you ever had a holiday romance?
  • Is there somewhere you’ve visited that made you want to stay forever?
  • Where would be your top recommendation?
  • Is there somewhere you could visit over and over?
  • Would you, or have you ever taken a cruise?
  • Do you class the airport as the beginning of your holiday?
  • How do you feel when you get home from a holiday?
  • What holidays have you got planned for when lock down is lifted?

Documenting your travels forever

Of course, these journal prompts are more about looking back over travel. A great way to prepare for the world opening up again.

But once we are back up to our full travelling capacity, documenting your travel’s in a daily journal is really valuable. Summarising each day, the amazing things you’ve seen and all the adventures you hope to have.

You can even create a travel journal for adventures you hope to have. Making plans and being organised, what could possibly be better than that!

Would you like to document your travels using a journal of some kind? What would be your best holiday memory?

  1. That’s an interesting prompt, “Countries you have no desire to travel to?” – for me that would be the Far East, although I don’t really know why. When Flora was younger we got her to keep a holiday diary of what she did each day with pictures and a wallet at the back to keep cocktail swizzlers, beer mats, tickets, etc. We were looking through all 5 of them the other day, it was such lovely – I’ll have to try and persuade her to start doing the same again 🙂 xxx

  30. Absolutely love this idea for relieving the even painful urge to get back on the road or in the air! I’m one of those who literally live to travel (hence, I’ve lived in 5 different countries within just the past 10 years), and cannot wait until it’s possible for me to get back to it. Thankfully, since I live abroad, I’ve been able to travel back home multiple times even during lockdown, because they can’t deny me entry to either direction ;D It’s been a major lifeline during this past year.

  31. These are such nice journal prompts! I never thought of doing Travel themed journaling before – makes me really want to start travelling when it’s safer to do so! I’ve never had the chance to travel before (because of age and money), so I will be coming up with a major bucketlist! Bali here I come 🙂

    Em x
