Binge-worthy TV series to watch this Autumn

Autumn is the perfect time of year to find binge-worthy TV series to watch. We are all at home a little more and it’s dark and cold outside. It’s a great time to settle in and make the most of those early nights.

I’m going to share what we’ve been watching over the last few months in the hope it will give you some ideas on the run up to Christmas. We all know, once we hit December, It’s all about the Christmas movies!

Binge-worthy TV series to watch this Autumn

Netflix

Let’s start with some Netflix choices. This is what has caught our eye this autumn.

The Haunting of Bly manor

As it’s Halloween coming up this is a great choice for those looking for a fright. This is the follow up to The Haunting on Hill House. Although it features some of the same actors, it is not the same story at all.

If you like to feel utterly terrified, then this is the one for you! I was absolutely gripped from the very start. Mainly gripped with terror I have to add! But it was a great watch.

Ozark

This is something that every time I have shared what we were watching, people always recommended to me.

I wasn’t really sure what to expect but it’s really good. Plus I love saying ‘MartyBird’ as if it is just one word.

If you love a drama with plenty of Murder, drugs, gangs and Jason Bateman then this is the series for you. With 3 series available, it’s the ultimate binge-worthy show.

The Good place

To even up the gritty viewing, we added in this quirky show. Kristen Bell and Ted Danson in a utopian heaven is perfect for comedic escapism. At just 30 minutes a show and 53 episodes to binge.

This is a great filler to go alongside anything else you might be watching.

Umbrella Academy

I like to jump on the bandwagon when most people have hopped off. I wasn’t really sure what to expect with this one.

Superheroes really aren’t my bag, but there is something about the mystery behind this odd collection. Children all born on the same day to unexpectant Mothers. Bought together by a wealthy ‘Father’

If you can get past Luther’s tiny head (I find it very distracting!) and you love a little intrigue with your superhero stories.

Selling Sunset

Oh man! This is everything I should hate but I LOVED it! Sunshine, Drama, Divas and getting behind the scenes of some the most beautiful and expensive homes in LA.

We’ve never watched a TV series as quickly as this one and I was genuinely gutted when we finished it!

Netflix Watch list

We have a few more that we want to binge over the next few months.

  • Emily in Paris
  • Ratched
  • Blood Line
  • Below Deck

Channel 4

Ok so maybe not strictly binge watching material but these are must watch series in our house all year round.

Gogglebox

What’s not to love about this show? I often think they should film people watching Gogglebox. Rob and I just laugh from start to finish. Plus we often find some great shows to watch that we otherwise might have missed out on.

Great British bake off

I won’t lie, I wasn’t sure how I felt about Matt Lucas taking over on the Bake off. But I am happy to admit that I think he is doing a great job. The lovely Noel though still steals the show.

And Pru and her worrying about giant buts, what is not to love about it!?

Made in Chelsea

I can’t and won’t apologise for this one! I love the drama these rich kids keep finding themselves in. We were very pleased to see it return after shutting down early due to Covid!

Plus if you’ve never seen it before there are plenty of series to work through!

Other Platforms

The Morning Show

I got a years Apple TV subcsription earlier this year, It was free thanks to O2. But until recently, our smart TV wasn’t apple smart enough!

Thankfully now it is and our first watch had to be The Morning Show. This hit show starring Jennifer Aniston and Reece Witherspoon is an absolute must watch.

It tackles some really serious issues head on, without giving too much away of course.

It is by far the best show we’ve watched all year!

Love Life

This 30 minute an episode comedy on BBC Iplayer is the perfect accompliment for some of the heavy(scarier) stuff we’ve been watching of late!

Staring Anna Kendrick, this program follows her turbulent love life. It is very funny and has moments I am sure we can all relate to in some way.

If you’re looking for something light hearted then this is perfect.

That’s a wrap!

I actually can’t believe how much we’ve managed to fit in since September. We normally only manage an hour of TV time a night as well so I must say I am quite impressed!!

What have you been watching in Autumn and what would you recommend I check out next time?

Spread the love

So many people have recommended The Umbrella Academy. My husband has watched it and says he’d happily watch it again if I decided to give it a go. So it must be good!

We’re currently binge-watching Schitt’s Creek on Netflix. It’s absolutely hilarious so I’d highly recommend that when you’re next in the market for a comedy.
